A Testament to Trust, Partnership and Growth
I was introduced to H&G Marketing, a regional rep group in the upper Midwest, early in 2007 at Blackhawk, Inc. They were contracted to take our products, specifically the Serpa holster, into the commercial market where we had had zero share. By the time Blackhawk was sold in 2010, H&G had expanded their reach west of the Mississippi to the Pacific coast. H&G was jointly responsible for growing Blackhawk’s market share in the commercial space from zero to north of $20 million.
After the sale, I was fortunate to re-engage with H&G at Safariland, Inc. in late 2010. Safariland was the dominant duty holster provider to the Public Safety market. I again challenged H&G to take Safariland’s concealment holsters and firearms accessories into the same commercial space where Safariland had zero market share. Safariland created space in the southeast US for their second expansion, and shortly thereafter, H&G became a National Rep Group.
Over the next 14 years, up to the time of my retirement, H&G was Safariland’s sole “daily boots on the ground; face to the customer” for commercial sales to Wholesalers, Big-Box Stores, Buying Groups, and independent sporting goods and hunting outlets. During that time, H&G Marketing was pivotal for growing Safariland’s commercial share from zero to north of $25 million.
I was fortunate to have made so many friends within H&G and to have been partners with a single group of professional, hardworking individuals for the entire U.S.A. I am proud to be able to call them friends even today.
